Day 39

Prelude of blooms

Yellow belles, daffodils and a few flirty tulips are starting to show up on the street for a great Spring inception for 2011. Thank God! It was just about to storm, so I ran out for some gloomy shots, but instead I got extra bright shots (with flash). Admittedly, my pictures this week aren't winning any awards, but they are a taste of my life, and that is what will be nice to remember.

Clean bottles

We are officially set for the day! Clean bottles, sunshine and an outing planned to see friends. Happy Sunday!

This little piggie...

I just love tiny toes, especially Gil's. The three of us had a nice day together, but we did not go to market, but we did go "wee wee wee all the way home" after some Greek food. Yum!

A glimpse of my life

There is no better sancuary in our home than in Gil's room. It's bright and peaceful, and has bits and parcels of what life is like here. This, my friends, is what it is now all about.

Love Nest
This tiny little birdhouse sits all year long in our Crepe Myrtle in the front yard. Perhaps two tiny little love birds live here in the off season.

Reflecting

It was the end of the work day and the break room was quiet, and full of shadows and reflections. I documented it and got a little more yellow in this week. Maybe I have a theme going here...

Rounders

I ventured out in the dark tonight, experimenting with flash,distance and what light I could muster from head lights and porch spots. I worked up lots of ideas for later shots, and I kind of like this one, the simplest of my subjects, eventhough I really didn't want to at first.

Quiet keys

I am pretty sure that everyone with a piano and a camera has a version of this shot, so I just had to do a study on my old tired keys that quite fankly, have been neglected for the past few months. I need to get to know my piano again. So-la-ti-do!

Birthday Cake!

Gil and I went to a birthday party, and I had as much fun taking pictures of the cake debacle as Leah had destroying it. Why isn't it acceptable for adults to dive into confections with no utensils?

Let's get this started

I have been pretty good about going ot the gym, but now I am officially tackling my last 10lbs of baby weight. My message to the extra fat: "Be afraid. Be very afraid!"

My head's in the clouds

I could probably post 300 of the 365 pictures this year of the gorgeous Carolina skies. Today is a beautiful day here, and is just an appetizer for what March and April will bring. Hooray for Spring!

Gil's Rosary

Gil met his Godfather this week, my brother. I decided to take this shot of the rosary that my sister brought back from Rome this summer, on the bible that Nate and I got for our wedding.

I just love geese in formation. They are so very brave to make their annual trek South, and then back again, simply because they are geese.

This is an abandoned storefront in Savannah. The shop burned down, and they lost all of their props so they went out of business, but I still got an old time photo of my own today.

Savannah

We headed to Savannah this weekend to see friends, and so of course I had to take a picture of Spanish moss in an old tree in a square. Of course!

Most mornings, I see a beautiful scene in the sky just before I drop Gil off. I promised myself I'd catch it one day (at least one!), and so I did.

No Trespassing

I thought it was appropriate to take this picture now, while all the branches are tangled and brittle, rather than when it looks nice and inviting in the Spring. I have had my eye on this sign, I guess since it now stands out against the drab palette of 'dead and dreary'.

Tub Time

Bath time is one of Gil's (and our) favorite things to do. Most days, Nate and I both help get Gilly nice and clean, and watch him splash, smile and kick all the way through.

Fire Hose Connection

I shot this at a site visit this afternoon, as part of my building documentation. There is something about the connections radiating out from the central line and redness that I find attractive against the light colored tilt panel.

Beads and Iron

My mom and I went shopping at the warehouses in South End Charlotte and found this little gem. I had it hidden in my closet for months and months and finally our music area has light, crooked lampshade and all!

Morning Ritual

Every morning my husband feeds Gil while I get ready for work. We both go in to the nursery to say good morning, give a hug, a kiss and start our day off right, all before the sun comes up.
