Day 132

Hot as the blazes!
I went out in this potentially record breaking heatwave today and had tons of fun taking pictures near a horse pasture. I picked this one to share because the flowers look like they are being seared like my "oh-so" pale skin in this bright and breeze-less day. It is a good day, although I miss my boys so very much after being spoiled with their presence for 3 1/2 days over the long and wonderful weekend.

Day 131

Happy Memorial Day
Today is more than a day off, and much more than huge sales at the mall. It is a day to remember all the brave soldiers who have served our country. I always have, and always will, wish to be home where I grew up to watch our village parade, grill out and be with family and long-time friends. Alas, I get to be with my guys, soaking in their laughter and love. I am thankful for that, beyond words.

Day 130

The pool's open!
Now, not only do I have a whole new place to hang out this summer and take the family, I have a whole new backdrop of people, places and things to shoot away at. Welcome Summer!

Day 128

True love with a tail
This is Bamboo, a cute little guy who works by day as a greeter at J Studio, where I get my hair cut. (and a wonderful cut it is!) I captured him waiting patiently for his daddy, who is sitting just outside the picture window on the porch. It was a sweet moment that I was glad to experience.

Day 127

Blessed with bright and blue
Carolina is known for its skies, and thank God for that! I took a series of pictures of this wheat field with the sun is reflecting off the tips like a gold thread woven though all the stalks. One day,I'll get the courage to ask if I can take pictures at the farm where I get my veggies from. This was just down the road. One day!

Day 126

Seating : Reflecting
I loved the reflection of this cute bistro set outside. They look like paper umbrellas or abstract flowers. Soon, people will realize it's summer here and start using all these tables and chairs I am, in the meantime, able to capture. Happy Wednesday!

Day 125

Best seat (not) in the house
The prospect of going to the park just to see how high we can swing, and walking around the block just so we can finish our ice cream on a wagon ride makes me so excited to experience all the upcoming years in Gil's childhood. Reason # 80,526 to love that kid.

Home again
It's always bittersweet

Day 122

The Lighthouse at Old Fort Niagara
On our travels to Buffalo, we strolled down memory lane and toured the grounds of Old Fort Niagara, where Nate and I walked often when he still lived in this neck of the woods. Today, my dad and our son was with us. Today, the sky was bluer, the grass greener, and the memory sweeter.

Day 121

And  so I was...
in reverie over being a little girl (after I saw, and shot this bike) when I heard David Edelstein say that Woody Allen was "locked in a daydream of the past". Me too. I listened further and he summarized his new movie, the hero's name is Gil. I have been very aware of the serendipity in my life, and it is an amazing thing. And so I was...

Day 120

Blue skies, nothing but blue skies...
...and a power line.

Day 119

The wise words of Dwight Shrute:
"What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No. I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later I get a postcard. I have a son, and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting: I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadaro. She's been waiting for me all these years, she's never taken another lover. I don't care, I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier."

Day 118

Another Tuesday
Today, we celebrate. We do so simply because we have eachother, because we are happy and because it is Tuesday.

Day 117

It was one of those mornings...
It was cloudy, yet the sun was desperately trying to break through, which made for a beautiful backdrop to an otherwise boring Monday morning commute. This emulates the work of Little Postcards "Slices of Sky" entry, but I kept the color in mine because it added a layer of interest that I couldn't get with the black and white alone, like Alexandria was able to do. (You should check it out, the shots are beautiful!)

Day 116

"Wheat stalks heavy with grain learn to bow their heads"
Chinese Proverb

(and I couldn't decide which picture. I added both.)

Day 114

All about the yellow
This is a series of spontaneous self portraits that I did today. I made the main focus the yellow costume jewelry that when given the chance, I wear on occasion for fun!

*and, uh, I changed the picture. The first one bothered me after I posted it.

Day 113

Gently as you go...

Day 112

Trying to keep my focus
To be honest, I have no idea how I got this shot. The middle blooms are perfectly still, while the other blooms are wildly swaying. It was original, so I thought I'd share it! I hope today is as reflective and good for your soul as it has been for mine. Happy Wednesday, my friends!

Day 110

Diamonds
I like the way the shadow and chair almost blend together in this shot. Along with the neutral tones, this was my best one today. I hope you had a great Monday!

Day 109 (Part II)

Tiny Son
I know, I know! I already posted today, but I just wanted to share the wonderful reason that I got to celebrate Mother's Day! He is the most beautiful person I have ever met, inside and out. I am ever amazed how much one being can touch my life the way he does. I am so happy to be able to know him and, of course, be his mother.

Day 109

Tiny suns
I just adore yellow and white flowers, I just do. I came across these little lovelies on our Mother's Day stroll in Freedom Park. It was gorgeous weather, and the park was "hoppin" with mothers, children, fathers and grandparents. It was a very nice time for us...

Day 108

Me, myself and I and me
Not the picture I thought I'd post today. I have been dabbling in self portraits a little, and I liked this one, so 'why not'?. It was inside a giant sculptural skeleton at the park next to The Radcliffe in Uptown Charlotte. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, my friends!

Day 107

Asiatic Lillies
Our Asiatic Lillies have bloomed, seemingly overnight. I had to shoot them since they shed as quick as they come. Easy now...we'd love you to stay around awhile longer...

Day 106

The Depot
Searching for my subjects for this 365 project has opened my eyes to all kinds of places and things I would have otherwise not caught on to so quickly. Today, I discovered an indoor flea market at an old mill filled with wash basins, clip-on earrings and Hardy Boys novels. I was ill equipped to walk the creaky floors scanning old spools and ladies hats, but I will be back one day when I have hours to dig, inspect and dream...

Day 105

Allergies in color
I decided to experiment with focus, or lack thereof, today. I am drawn to flowers, but I don't want to keep posting the same old stuff, so I blurred them out today. It is so very appropriate since my allergies are making me feel this way anyway! Welcome to my world!

Day 104

no commentary...just reflection...

Monday, May 2, 2011

Day 103

Aeroplane
All the lives sitting high above me,
All the places they are about to see.
Have a lovely trip!
Maybe I'll see you again one day.

Day 102

Green onions
These of the sweet variety will be in the sweet dinner I make for my sweet husband on this sweet Sunday.
